About Us

WHO ARE THE CMKG MEMBERS

AND WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BECOME ONE?

We are a group of over 198 machine knitters from all over the world! Our members range from women and girls just big enough to operate the machine to men who love the mechanics of a machine and those who share their knitting hobby with their wives and partners.

We began as a guild for North and South Carolina knitters and almost immediately began to gain members from all over the U.S. and Canada. We can now say that our members live all over the world with experience levels from absolute beginner to seasoned professional.  They own machines as sophisticated as electronic Passap, Brother, Silver Reed as well as hobby machines such as the USM, ISM and Brother and Silver Reed plastic bed machines.   Lots of our members own one of each.

We  stay in touch through our group forumand our newsletter. The group is a paid-members-group only and is a wonderful source of support when you need a helpful hint or just want to download the latest monthly newsletter or chat with friends.  We really don't have a lot of chitchat on the group but we do have an archive of all our newsletters published, dating back to March 2003 available on CD for a nominal cost and four years archived on the forum.

The newsletters are full of articles and patterns contributed by members as well as non-members.  We offer advertising to members and non-members. We also offer free advertising and a free newsletter in exchange for original patterns and articles from non members. Advertising knitting-related items in the newsletter assures that they reach the target market at a very reasonable rate.

Note: The folks that keep this guild going are all volunteers and that being said, they do not work a regular work week and sometimes they go on vacation or have health issues and cannot get back to you right away. Your volunteer participation and/or patience would be appreciated.
